Congratulations!
December is a special month. The whole atmosphere changes and you can both see and smell the festivities in the air. Joy permeates everywhere. Thank God you are alive!
The month is significant for all and especially Christians as we celebrate the fact that many years ago, Our Saviour, Jesus Christ was born into this World. The coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ lifted us from the depth wherein we have fallen to the highest place. And now, we are more than conqueror through Him that love us with an everlasting love.
As we celebrate Christmas and prepare to enter a new year, lets remind ourselves of five areas of life, streams of grace that we need to use to guide our life.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
(John 8:36, Colossians 2:14-15, John 16:33, Isaiah 53:5-10)
The blood of Our Lord Jesus was shed from five major points on the cross
1. The back when He was beaten
2. The head when He was crowned with thorns
3. The hand when He was nailed to the cross.
4. The leg when He was nailed to the cross.
5. The side when He was pierced.
It all means we have complete redemption, total freedom in Him, even right now. We are
complete in Him. That's why we can more than conquer anything and everything against us.
1. HE WAS SCOURGED
Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him .(John19:1)
He was beaten beyond recognition
"As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men"(Isaiah 52:14)
By His stripes, we are healed:
"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
(Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:21-24)
Free from sickness and infirmities. We are conqueror over all forms of sicknesses and diseases. Jesus was beaten with thirty nine stripes and we are told that there are thirty nine groups of sicknesses and diseases. A stripe for each for each group of disease! Glory be to God!
2. THE HEAD WAS CROWNED WITH THORNS.
He was taking our curse away.
"And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe. (John 19:2)
Thorns is the symbol of God's curse on the earth.
"And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; [18] Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field."(Genesis 3:17-18)
Jesus was made a curse that we may be free from the original curse to partake of the blessings of Abraham.
"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: [14] That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through."(Galatians 3:13-14)
Freedom from the curse of the law. No more curse. No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper.
3. WHEN HIS HAND WAS PIERCED.
"Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. [17] And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: [18] Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst."(John 19:16-18)
He was removing poverty and releasing prosperity and abundance.
Your hand is the symbol of your economic prowess.
"And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee."(Deuteronomy 12:7)
"The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
[12] The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow." ( Deuteronomy 28:8,12)
More than conqueror over every form of poverty. Freedom from financial poverty! My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
4. HIS FEET WAS PIERCED
This was to fulfilled a crucial prophesy about our dominion over satanism and all his works.
"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."(Genesis3:15)
The fall put enmity between us. Satan bruised the heel of Our Lord Jesus at the crucification, but Jesus crushed his head when He rose from the dead.
We now need to walk in that dominion. That's why Jesus said,"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you". (Luke 10:19)
"To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God."(Ephesians3:10)
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."( Mark 16:15-18)
Freedom from the fear of the enemy. God has not given us the Spirit of fear. Freedom from oppression by the enemy.
5. WHEN HIS SIDE WAS PIERCED
"But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water."(John19:34)
The fountain of life was opened and His blood flowed to cleanse us from all sins and uncleaness.
Now by the blood, we are holy unto God.
"In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness."(Zechariah 13:1)
"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son , and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."(Zechariah 12:10)
Brethren, because we are more than conqueror in Him, we have freedom to be like Him. We are joint-heir with Christ.
Freedom to do greater works than He did.
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. [15] For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. [16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: [17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him , that we may be also glorified together. [18] For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. [19] For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God."(Romans 8:14-19)
As we celebrate this joyful season, remember who you are in Christ. Take the advantage and walk in total freedom. You are more than a conqueror over sickness and diseases, known and unknown curses, every form of poverty, dominate over every form of evil power, presence and personalities, but above all, you are a joint-heir with Christ.
Your status is unique in life. Not just a conqueror, but more than one!
Merry Christmas and happy New Year in advance.
