The Anointing of God by Anyasi U.R

Text: Lev.8:10-12
(10) And Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them. (11) And he sprinkled thereof upon the alter seven times, and anointed the alter and all his vessels, both the laver and its foot,  to sanctify them. (12) And he poured the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.
The anointing in Hebrew terms means to pour oil over something or someone. This when done in the name of God has a spiritual effect as we see in our opening text and in several instances in the Old Testament of the Bible as we shall see in the course of the sermon. This effect is the hand
or influence of God on the life of the anointed.

What the Anointing will Do for You

It will make you sanctified and holy: We can clearly see in our passage above that it is noted everything thing Moses anointed was declared to be sanctified by virtue of the anointing. Each three verses ended with the statement "to sanctify them" which tells us that the primary essence of the anointing was for sanctification. In Exo.40:9-10, we see God telling Moses that whatever he anoints shall be holy. Once the anointing of God is placed upon you, you become marked as holy. This is because the anointing of God is the touch and presence of God and wherever God deems fit to dwell in is holy without question.
It heals: James 5:14 -"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church: and let them pray for him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." God is a healer. There is no way He will descend upon a sick body and that body will remain sick.
It gives beauty: Ruth 3:3 -"wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking." Naomi here was advising her daughter-in-law, Ruth on the steps to take to obtain favor from Boaz. She was told to anoint herself, this would give her beauty. On top of that, it would ensure she has favor in his sight. The next time you are going for that job interview or to bid for that contract, why not take a oil and anoint thyself.
It ends sorrow and mourning: Isa.61:3a "to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion. To give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning." The oil of joy hear means the anointing. It is Gods antidote for mourning. The moment you have the anointing of God, you cease to mourn. Moses told Aaron and his sons the priests that the reason they won't mourn with the rest of the Israelites was because the anointing of God is upon them. Lev.10:6-7. In IISam.12:19-20, we see that the first thing King David did to end his mourning was to anoint himself. The anointing of God will turn your morning into joy.
It will teach you: because of the effect of the anointing of God upon you, you will know all things through the Spirit of God. IJohn 2:27.
It makes the Spirit of God dwells on you: ISam.16:13 "then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah." Once he was anointed, the Bible says that God's spirit came upon David.

Who can be Anointed?

To qualify to be anointed by God, one has to be chosen by God. In Exo.40:13-15, God chose Aaron and his sons and asked Moses to anoint them. God chose Saul in and asked Samuel to anoint him ISam.9:15-17. He chose David and asked the same priest to do likewise ISam.16:1. When God chooses one, He anoints the person; but we know that God has chosen every Christian. John 15:16-19, IPet.2:9. When you read these passages, you realize that as many as have given their lives to Jesus Christ and accepted him as savior have been chosen by God. Hence are qualified for the anointing of God.
Also, we see in the old testament that there is a specific type of people that God anoints specially. These are kings and priests. Rev.1:6 made us know that in God's eyes we are kings and priests, this alone makes us befitting of His anointing.
So long as we are faithful in Christ, God has anointed us with the power of His presence. We have to live daily in the consciousness of the anointing so as to manifest it mightily in our lives. I pray that God helps you with the grace and might to live a life of the supernatural through His anointing in Jesus name. Amen.
