Your New Birth by Anyasi U. R

Think for a minute and contemplate what is meant when we talk of the new birth among Christian folks. This concept -if we are hereby allowed to call it so- is one that has to be sat before a thoroughly elucidatory discuss in order for it to be made clearer.
The foregoing exists to usher in this statement; being born again is a purely spiritual exercise while the matter of having a new birth in Christ is
quite transcending and more holistically consummating.
To put the above in a simple and elaborate manner; being born again and the baptism of the Holy Spirit involves only the spirit of man. But as we know, man, who is a spirit lives in a body and possesses a soul. The soul and the body have not been involved in this newness that the spirit has experienced, hence there has to be a measure that the person who is now born again can apply in order to bring both his body and soul under subjection to God. This measure is what Apostle Paul described as the renewing of the mind in his letter to the church in Rome. Rom.12:2.
How do you then renew your mind? By the Word of God. The Word when implanted into the soul of man is what has the ability and power to save man's soul. James 1:21. Even Jesus told us that we are cleansed by the Words he speaks to us. John 15:3. However, this process of renewing the mind has to be a gradual process that grows into perfection. The more we study and confess the Word of God, is the more we become more and more like Jesus both in spirit and soul and even in body.
Most of the problems we attribute to the devil today are as a result of our unrenewed mind. This is because as long as a mind is yet to be renewed after God, Satan and his hosts can still access it and cause damage. But hearing or reading the Word of God is a strong defense against the devil because it brings our thinking in line with the mind of God.
Our thoughts would then be based on those things that are true, pure, just, honest, lovely and of good report as Paul admonished in Phil.4:8 instead of your fears, worries, doubts etc. If you keep your mind this way, you will never open the door of your life to the devil and his evil workers.

In summary, being born again will profit your life little if you do not make the effort to fill your mind with the Word of God so as to renew it. After all, Jesus said to us that if He abides in us and His Word abides in us, that is only when our prayers will certainly be answered. John 15:7. Now that Christ abides in you because you are born again, pick up your Bible to read so that His Word can abide in you and keep winning. God bless you.
